Installing the App on Your Phone

HealthCare works as a home screen app โ€” it opens full-screen without a browser address bar, just like a native app. No App Store required.

๐Ÿ“ฑ iPhone & iPad (Safari)

  1. Open Safari (not Chrome or Firefox) and navigate to the app URL.

  2. Tap the Share button โฌ† at the bottom of the screen.

  3. Scroll down in the share sheet and tap "Add to Home Screen".

  4. Edit the name if you like (it will say "HealthCare") then tap "Add".

  5. The app icon appears on your home screen. Tap it to launch.

๐Ÿค– Android (Chrome)

  1. Open Chrome and navigate to the app URL.

  2. Chrome may show a banner at the bottom: "Add HealthCare to Home screen" โ€” tap it. If not, continue to step 3.

  3. Tap the three-dot menu โ‹ฎ in the top-right corner.

  4. Tap "Add to Home screen" and confirm.

  5. The app icon appears on your home screen. Tap it to launch.

๐Ÿ’ก Once installed, HealthCare works offline โ€” all your data is stored on your device and is available even without an internet connection.

Dashboard

The Dashboard is your daily health overview. It updates automatically every time you log new data.

โš–๏ธ Weight Card

Your latest weight with trend vs previous reading. Shows your BMI if height is set in Profile.

โค๏ธ Blood Pressure Card

Latest BP reading with colour-coded health status (Normal, Elevated, High Stage 1/2, Crisis).

๐Ÿ‘ฃ Steps Progress

Today's step count vs your daily goal. The goal uses your Profile setting or defaults to 10,000.

๐ŸŽฏ Goals Progress

Progress bars for each active goal โ€” weight, steps, calories, blood pressure. Visible once goals are set in Profile.

๐Ÿ’ก Health Guidance

Personalised wellness tips based on your data vs goals โ€” weight trends, BP advice, activity suggestions.

๐Ÿ“Š Weekly Highlights

Summary of your progress over the recorded period โ€” weight change, average steps, BP trend.

โš ๏ธ The Health Guidance section provides general wellness information only โ€” it is not medical advice. Always consult a healthcare professional for medical decisions.

Logging a Health Entry

Tap the Log tab (โž•) to record your health measurements. You don't need to fill in every field โ€” just record what you have.

What you can record

Editing or deleting a record

Go to the History tab. Each record has an edit โœ๏ธ and delete ๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ button in the top-right corner of the card. Tap edit to load the record back into the Log form for changes.

โœ“ You can log multiple entries per day โ€” for example, a morning weight measurement and an evening blood pressure reading. The dashboard shows the latest value for each metric.

History Logs

The History tab shows all your recorded entries grouped by date, newest first.

Filtering

Use the dropdown at the top to filter by metric:

Sharing a record

Each record has a share ๐Ÿ”— button. Tapping it opens your phone's share sheet so you can send the reading via WhatsApp, iMessage, email, or any app.

The Trends tab shows your data as charts over time. Tap the buttons at the top to switch between chart types.

โš–๏ธ Weight & Body Composition

Line chart showing weight (kg) on the left axis and Body Fat % / Muscle Mass % on the right axis. Gaps are spanned when a field wasn't recorded on a given entry.

โค๏ธ BP & Pulse

Line chart with Systolic and Diastolic pressure (mmHg) on the left axis and Pulse (bpm) on the right axis.

๐Ÿ‘ฃ Steps

Bar chart showing maximum steps recorded per day (if you log steps multiple times in a day, the highest value is used).

๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Calories

Bars show calories ingested (food). The line shows estimated calories burned (BMR + steps activity). The gap between the two indicates your daily energy surplus or deficit.

Profile & Goals

Personal Data

Setting up your personal data unlocks more accurate health calculations:

After saving, the Health Metrics card appears showing your current BMI, BMR, and TDEE based on your latest weight entry.

Health Metrics explained

MetricWhat it meansNormal range
BMIBody Mass Index โ€” weight relative to height18.5โ€“24.9
BMRCalories your body burns at complete rest per dayVaries by person
TDEETotal daily calories needed based on your activity levelVaries by person

Setting Goals

Fill in any combination of goals in the Goals section and tap Save Goals:

Understanding Blood Pressure Readings

HealthCare uses American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines to classify your readings:

CategorySystolicDiastolic
Normal< 120< 80 mmHg
Elevated120โ€“129< 80 mmHg
High โ€” Stage 1130โ€“13980โ€“89 mmHg
High โ€” Stage 2โ‰ฅ 140โ‰ฅ 90 mmHg
Hypertensive Crisis> 180> 120 mmHg
โš ๏ธ If your reading falls in the Hypertensive Crisis range and you have symptoms (headache, chest pain, shortness of breath), seek emergency medical care immediately.

PIN Security

Protect your health data with a 4-digit PIN. The app will ask for your PIN every time it opens.

Setting up a PIN

  1. Go to the Profile tab and scroll down to PIN Protection.

  2. Tap "Enable PIN Lock".

  3. A full-screen keypad appears. Enter your chosen 4-digit PIN.

  4. Enter the same PIN again to confirm.

  5. A "PIN set!" confirmation appears. The app is now protected.

Auto-lock

If you switch to another app or lock your phone for more than 5 minutes, HealthCare will ask for your PIN again when you return.

Forgot your PIN?

After 3 incorrect attempts, a "Forgot?" button appears. Tapping it and confirming will erase all data and remove the PIN โ€” this is the only way to reset it. Export a backup first if possible (see Backup section).

Sharing Health Data

You can share individual records or a full summary with a doctor, family member, or carer.

Share a single record

In the History tab, tap the share icon ๐Ÿ”— on any record. Your phone's share sheet opens โ€” choose WhatsApp, iMessage, email, or any other app.

Share a summary

On the Dashboard, tap the share icon in the "Weekly Highlights" header. This shares a text summary covering weight trend, latest BP, and average steps.

Backup & Restore

Your data lives only on your device. Export a backup regularly to avoid losing your records if the browser data is cleared or the device is replaced.

Export (backup)

  1. Go to Profile tab โ†’ scroll to Backup & Data Management.

  2. Tap Export JSON to download a full backup file, or Export CSV to open in a spreadsheet.

  3. Save the file to your cloud storage, email it to yourself, or keep it in your Files app.

Import (restore)

  1. Go to Profile tab โ†’ Backup & Data Management.

  2. Tap Import Backup (JSON) and select your saved backup file.

  3. All records are replaced with the imported data. A confirmation message appears.

โš ๏ธ Importing a backup replaces all current records. If you want to keep both old and new data, export first, then merge manually in a text editor.

Smart Camera Scanner (Beta)

The camera scanner can read numbers from a photo of your scale, blood pressure monitor, or handwritten notes โ€” so you don't have to type them manually.

  1. In the Log tab, tap "Snap Photo & Scan" at the top.

  2. Take a clear, well-lit photo of the display or numbers you want to capture.

  3. Wait for the scan to complete (progress bar shows status).

  4. Detected numbers appear as chips. Tap a number to select it.

  5. Tap the field button (Weight, Sys, Steps, etc.) to assign the value.

  6. Review the assigned values and tap Save Record.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips for best OCR results: good lighting, hold the camera steady, ensure the display is clearly visible and not at an angle. The scanner works best with digital displays rather than analogue dials.
โš ๏ธ The scanner is in Beta โ€” always verify the detected numbers before saving. OCR may occasionally misread digits, especially on curved or low-contrast displays.

App Updates

When a new version is available, a blue banner appears at the top of the screen:

๐Ÿ”„ New version available Update now

Tap "Update now" to install the latest version. The app will reload automatically โ€” your data is not affected.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. All data is stored locally on your device in the browser's storage. Nothing is sent to any server. Your health information never leaves your phone.

What happens if I clear my browser data?

All health records and profile data will be deleted. Always export a JSON backup first (Profile โ†’ Backup & Data Management โ†’ Export JSON) to avoid losing your data.

Can I use the app on multiple devices?

Each device has its own data. To move data to a new device: export JSON on the old device โ†’ install the app on the new device โ†’ import the JSON backup.

Why does the app only work on mobile?

HealthCare is designed and optimised exclusively for smartphone use. Accessing it from a desktop browser will show a block screen by design.

Does the app work without internet?

Yes โ€” once installed, HealthCare works completely offline. All your data is stored on your device and all features are available without a network connection (except the initial font and chart library download).

The charts are empty โ€” why?

Charts need at least one logged entry to display. Log your first health record using the Log tab (โž•), then navigate to Trends.

Can I log data retrospectively?

Yes โ€” in the Log form, change the Date & Time field to any past date and time before saving. The history will order entries correctly by date.
